    Yabu stopped in front of JUMP’s dressing room when he heard giggles and laughter of his band mates. ‘Why?’ he frowned. Shaking off the thought, Yabu entered the room.

    The scene that greeted him was Yamada and Ryutaro laughing, Chinen sitting on Takaki’s lap, Inoo reading a book, his head on Hikaru’s lap, and the latter playing with his lover’s hair.

    “Oh, hey Kota,” Takaki greeted with a smile.

    “Hi,” Yabu returned his smile.

    “You know, Chii got first in his class,” Takaki poked Chinen’s cheek, “and we thought of celebrating it.”

    The smile immediately disappeared from Yabu’s face. “That’s great.” He stormed his way to the corner of the room and took his bag.

    “Where are you going?” Takaki asked. By now, everyone was looking at Yabu. They knew for a fact that Yabu never stormed his way anywhere unless he was in a bad mood.

    “I’m going to look for Shoon,” Yabu answered and slammed the door behind him.

    “O-Oh, looks like there’s trouble in paradise,” Hikaru teased.

    Inoo smacked his lover on the head. “Takaki, you better go and see what’s wrong.”

    Nodding his head, Takaki started going after Yabu.

    Yabu made his way to the junior’s dressing room, clenching his fists. “That stupid Takaki,” Yabu mumbled. “Always paying attention to the others.” He felt a lump in his throat, his chest tight.

    Yabu stopped walking. “Why am I getting so worked up about this?” he felt tears welling in his eyes. Suddenly, he felt someone enveloped him from behind.

    “Hey.” It was Takaki. He rested his head on Yabu’s shoulder. “Is there something wrong, Kota?”

    “No, nothing’s wrong. Why would you think that?”

    “Well, there’s the fact that you’re crying. Or do you just cry everyday, every moment?”

    “Baka,” Yabu chuckled. “I’d be blind if that’s what I do.”

    “Sou ne,” said Takaki. “So now, tell me what’s the matter.”

    Yabu sighed. “Because...you seem to be paying attention to everyone else and not me,” he pouted. “I know I’m just ordinary, and-...”

    Takaki turned Yabu facing him. “Yabu Kouta! You are anything but ordinary.” He took Yabu in his embrace and whispered in his lover’s ear. “You hold my heart, remember?”

    Yabu buried his face in Takaki’s jacket. “Sorry, I was being stupid.”

    Takaki kissed the top of Yabu’s head. “You’re my stupid lover,” he said with a chuckle.

    “Hey!” Yabu protested. They laughed soon after.

    Suddenly, they jumped when they heard someone clearing his throat, loudly.

    “You know, I never knew the juniors’ hallway has become a place for making out sessions,” Shoon smirked seeing his friends red face.

    “Shoon~!” Yabu exclaimed, burying his head in Takaki’s jacket once again. Takaki, on the other hand, glared at him, which only caused the older guy to laugh.

Shoon woke up when he felt the sun rays entering the bedroom he shared with Yabu. Looking at his left, he smiled at his sleeping spouse. Shoon pushed away the few strands of hair at Yabu’s face.

A few days ago, Shoon finally had courage to propose to Yabu. The thing that made him love his soon-to-be spouse more was the conversation they had after he proposed.

Yabu rested his head on Shoon’s chest. “Mayo, I don’t need any children of my own. My parents understand that I love you, and even if being with you means the end of Yabu line, I don’t care. The only thing I need is you.”

Shoon placed a kiss on Yabu’s cheek. “I love you, Kouta.” Just after that, a smile appeared on Yabu’s face.

Serenade

Shoon crumpled the paper in front of him and threw it into the waste bucket. He started writing the essay on another paper, but a few minutes later, it has the same fate as the previous paper. After moments passed, Shoon gave up.

He leaned back against his seat, his eyes closed. He sighed. About seconds later, he heard something being thrown towards his window. He went to it and smiled when he found out the person who threw pebbles onto his window.

When Yabu saw he had Shoon’s attention, the younger teen smiled at his lover and waved. From his bedroom window, Shoon mouthed, “Thank you.”

“Yabu Kouta, when I’m feeling low, your smile could brighten my days in mere seconds.”

When he heard the door to the white hospital room opening, Ueda looked up with a smile. At the doorway, he saw Ryo, his eyes fixed on the floor. He could hear the few sobs that escaped Ryo's throat. "Come here," Ueda said with voice barely above whisper, motioning Ryo to sit next to him.

More tears ran down Ryo's cheeks when he saw his lover lying on the bed, his face pale, the IV needle in him. Ryo kneeled beside the bed, burying his face at the crook of Ueda's shoulder. Ueda chuckled. "Ryo..." he said. When the younger man didn't move, Ueda started carressing his hair. "Have you seen our daughter?" he asked softly. "She's beautiful, ne?" Ueda could feel him nod. "Ryo..."

"Baka!" Ryo finally exclaimed. Ueda could feel the tears that he held back had started to run down his cheeks. He could hear the pain in Ryo's voice, and he hated himself for it. Ryo sobbed. "I thought we are a couple," he gripped Ueda's hospital gown. "Why didn't you tell me that...that I could only have one of you," his last words said in a whisper.

"Ne, Ryo-chan, look at me," Ueda requested. At first, Ryo stayed still. But then, he obeyed. Ueda used his thumbs to wipe away the tears from Ryo's face. "You look really ugly when you cry, you know?"

Ryo laughed. He brushed Ueda's pale cheeks. "The same goes to you." Despite how pale he looked, Ryo could still see the spark of childishness in his lover's eyes.

Ueda pouted. "So, you're saying I'm ugly?"

Ryo kissed Ueda's lips. "You're anything but ugly, my love."

"Hold me," Ueda whispered in Ryo's ear. He scooted over a little, giving Ryo some space on his single bed. Ryo lay beside Ueda, taking him in his embrace. Ueda rested his head on Ryo's chest. "I'll always remember your warmth, and how your heart beats fast when you held me near."

"Mhmm..." was the only thing Ryo could say as his tears fell down his cheeks again.

"Promise me..." Ueda could feel the lump in his throat. "Promise me you'll take good care of our daughter, and that, you won't let her forget me."

"I promise," Ryo cried, hugging Ueda close to him.

"Arigatou," Ueda said, his voice barely above whisper. He closed his eyes, falling into deep slumber.

   Johnny had announced the disbandment of Ya Ya Yah. Taiyou had turn in his letter of retirement. My life seems to take a turn to a bad end. But at least, when I saw the reassuring and loving smile of my two best friends, life seems a little bit easier.

   It was known to all the juniors and a few senpais that Yabu and I had a thing for one another; we were an item. It’s harder to sneak around now that we were in different groups, he has debuted and I’ve started college. But with the others help, we managed.

   I didn’t realize when everything started to change. Yabu’s schedule started being crazy and so was my own. We had less and less time together. One day, fate decided to be cruel.

   I made my way to JUMP’s dressing room. It’s been awhile since I saw Yabu, and I missed him, a lot. I would never admit that out loud though, that was my character after all. I knocked on JUMP’s door a couple of times, but no answer. I then decided to open it. It was unlocked.

   I wish I hadn’t. I wish would just walk away like any normal person would. But no, I didn’t. I opened the door, and I was surprised to see the scene that met me. Clearly, they were surprised as well.

   “Mayo, what are you doing here?” Yabu asked eyes wide.

   Once I was out of my stunned condition, I retorted, “A mistake.” I immediately fled the scene, leaving Yabu and Inoo to get dressed.

   “Yabu!” Inoo said.

   When Yabu turned towards Inoo, regret was clear in the elder teen’s eyes. “I have to go.”

   “Shoon!” Yabu called out. We were on the rooftop of the jimusho. It was a place that we used to go too whenever we had a problem.

   “What do you want?”

   “Shoon, I- I didn’t know what happened… I-“

   I turned around, facing Yabu. “Oh, so you just tripped on Inoo and both your clothes fell?” he said with full sarcasm.

   “No, I didn’t-…” Instead of using words, Yabu immediately hugged me. However, I just stood there, didn’t respond. “You were never around…” he choked, “and I needed someone…to hold, to touch.”

   “Didn’t you think I would need the same thing?” I asked through gritted teeth.

   “I’m sorry,” Yabu apologized again.

   “It has already happened,” I said. My eyes were cold, but I couldn’t help it. The feeling of being betrayed by someone you love, it just hurts so much.

   “Shoon, I-…”

   “We’re over, Yabu-san.”

   Yabu looked at me with wide eyes. The last time I had called him that formally was when we first met, when Ya Ya Yah was first formed.

   “Shoon, don’t-…” tears rolled down his cheeks.

   I really wanted to be there by his side, took him in my embrace, comfort him. But the feeling of being betrayed, especially by someone I love so much, I couldn’t forget it. “We’re over, Yabu.” And I walked away from him.

Shoon looked outside his bedroom window, a cassete in his hands. He looked at the calm blue sky, thinking of a certain brunette-haired teenager. He sighed, knowing how his lover would react. All these years, he had kept this a secret from Yabu. He had always wanted to tell Yabu, and he was about to when the latest test result came. He had accepted the fact, but he knew Yabu wouldn't be able to.

When he went to his dressing table mirror, he touched his face, tracing the faint bruises visible on his pale face. During the meeting with his doctor, the latter had told him that his time was almost up. The bruises are one of the symptoms.

He took a frame from his bedside table. It was a picture of him and Yabu. He looked at Yabu's face with a sad smile. "Tomorrow, Kouta..." A tear dropped onto the picture frame. "I'm sorry."

Shoon quickly wiped the tears in his eyes when he heard his brother's voice from outside the door. He opened his door and saw his brother standing there, carrying a big empty box.

"What's up?"

"Mom asked me to help pack your things," Reon answered. He looked at his older brother with concern. "Have you told him?"

Shoon shook his head.

Reon's eyes widened. "But we're leaving tomorrow. And-..."

"Kouta's on a one-week class trip now. I don't want to spoil it for him."

"But it will be worst if-..." Reon stopped talking when Shoon put a hand on his shoulder.

Shoon smiled at the younger teen, a flicker of sadness in his eyes. "I know. Don't worry, I have everything planned."

Reon sighed, deciding to drop the subject. "I hope you're right."

The next day, Yabu went to the Yamashita residence bright and early. For the whole night after returning from the trip, he was excited to see Shoon. They did talk on the phone a bit that night, but he wanted to see him face to face, to touch him, to hold him, and to be in his embrace. They've been lovers for three years, and Shoon had always made him feel loved. Feel safe. He didn't know what he would do without Shoon.

When he arrived, he pressed the doorbell a few times. However, there was no answer. He knew there was a spare key under the flower pot so he used it to open the door. How surprised he was to see the house empty. There was a strong feeling of fear in his heart.

"Shoon?" he called out but there was no answer. He called again but still no answer. He tried calling Mr. and Mrs. Yamashita, and Reon but there was no reply as well.

Yabu was trembling when he made his way upstairs. His hand was shaking when he pushed open Shoon's door. He let out his breath that he was holding without realizing it. 'Why didn't Shoon tell me anything about this?' Shoon's bedroom was empty, except for his bed, the empty closet and empty book rack. He could feel a lump forming in his throat. Then, he saw a cassette on Shoon's table. He inserted it in the cassette player and sat on Shoon's bed as it began to play.

"Dear Kouta,

I bet you're scared out of your wits right now, and very worried too. And I also know I've made you cry, even before you started reading this. -sigh- I'm sorry for that Kouta, and I wish I'm there to wipe your tears away, and take you in my embrace. The truth is...I'm dying, Kouta. I know I shouldn't have hid it from you, but I know you wouldn't be able to accept it. I didn't want to hurt you."

Yabu shut his eyes, tears running down his cheeks now. "Oh Shoon," he sobbed. How could he not tell him? At that moment, Yabu hated himself. "Shoon had been suffering all this while, and I didn't notice anything..."

Stop it right now Kouta.

Yabu's eyes opened immediately upon hearing Shoon's stern voice. Then, it became soft again.

"Please, Kouta, don't blame yourself. I knew you too well to know that you're blaming yourself for not noticing." Shoon chuckled. "I love you Kouta, and that was the reason I didn't want to tell you. I want to spend my remaining time with you, and give you the best time that you will always remember even when I'm gone. Today, my family and I moved to the United States. My parents wanted other doctors' opinions, but..." Shoon sighed. "I know my time is almost up, and there's nothing anyone can do to save me." There was a short pause before Shoon continued, "Time is almost up Kouta, so I just wanted to say, I love you Kouta. I will love you forever. So please, for me, live your life with happiness. Don't mourn for me too long. I know someday, you will find someone that will love you as I did." There was a knock from the background, and Reon's voice was heard. Then, the recording stopped.

By now, Yabu was crying hard, hugging the picture of him and Shoon to his chest. "I love you too, Mayo," he said between sobs. "And I won't ever forget you."

It was like any other day in JUMP's dressing room. Keito was reading and Ryutaro was doing his homework. Yabu was having the heart-to-heart talk with Hikaru, and Inoo and Daiki were out of side. Yuto was adoring his bugs, and Chinen was sitting on Takaki's lap, watching the television. Yamada slumped on the couch beside the duo and pinched the bridge of his nose.

Takaki turned his attention towards his lover. "What's wrong?"

"Filming," was Yamada's only reply.

Chinen decided to give the lovers some space, so he went to bug Ryutaro. Takaki scooted closer towards Yamada. "I hope you're tired," he whispered.

"Hmm?" Yamada opened one eye and looked at Takaki from the corner of his eye. "Why would I be?"

"Because you've been running in my mind all these while," Takaki said in a low seductive voice.

Somehow, one of Yamada's vein twitched. "I am not impressed," he exclaimed, standing up.

"Ryo-chan," Takaki said, but Yamada didn't stop. Instead, when he passed Hikaru, he smacked the older teen's head.

"What the hell Yama-chan?!"

"That's for teaching my boyfriend your pick-up lines!"

Hikaru glared at Takaki, mouthing "I'll kill you" while Takaki just shrugged, giving Hikaru a sheepish smile.
